EPDM Rubber: 20–25 Years on the Coast
EPDM single-ply rubber is appropriate for larger flat roof areas. EPDM is highly resistant to thermal cycling. The critical detail on coastal EPDM installations is the upstand bond adhesive — salt air works the bond faster than inland. We use marine-grade adhesive on all Southport EPDM upstands.
Felt: 10–15 Years, Coastal Specification Required
Torch-on felt is acceptable if specified correctly. On coastal properties, we install three-layer specification rather than the two-layer standard inland. Correctly installed three-layer felt should give 10–15 years on a Southport property.
